POLL: Is Epilepsy Prejudice and Mis-understanding Still Prevalent ?

POLL: Is Epilepsy Prejudice and Mis-understanding Still Prevalent ?

A new poll conducted in Wales shows that young people with epilepsy are still faced with high levels of discrimination, prejudice and lack of understanding about epilepsy.

PollFeaturedHalf of the young responders who had epilepsy reported feeling depression and nearly 90% reported experiencing discrimination and social isolation due to their condition.

While this study was conducted in Wales, we feel the data is probably accurate for most developed nations, and probably worse in undeveloped nations. We wanted to conduct our own survey to see if we come up with similar results from our members, friends, family and followers.

Please take a moment to respond and we will post the results when we have a sizable response to report!

  6. Learning about Epilepsy should be required for all nurses, EMTs, police officers, fire fighters, coaches and teachers. Also, I think students should be required to learn about Epilepsy in health class. They need to learn the basics of Epilepsy, facts, myths, safeties and how to treat people with Epilepsy with respect and that there is no reason to be afraid of someone with Epilepsy.
